Helen M. Armentrout Riggleman Sions Lewis

Helen M. (Armentrout) Riggleman Sions Lewis, age 81, of Hyndman, PA, formerly of Moorefield, WV, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Kennells Mill/Hyndman, PA.

Born December 21, 1941, in Petersburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Kirk and Janie (Crites) Armentrout. She was also preceded in death by a second mother, Willye F. Shobe, who graduated to heaven on October 27, 1992; three husbands, Russell Riggleman, David Sions, and Charles “Chill” Lewis; and one brother, James “Jimmy” Armentrout and wife, Josephine.

Helen was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren for many years, serving as Sunday School teacher, president of the adult fellowship group, deacon, church board member and leader of the youth fellowship. Mrs. Lewis was a leader of the Mill Island 4-H club of Hardy County for many years. She was a life member of the West Virginia 4-H All Stars. She was voted the Outstanding 4-H Leader of the County. Helen worked for American Woodmark cabinet factory for seven years and then worked for the Hardy County Committee on Aging for seventeen years.

She is survived by two children, Magdalene “Maggie” (Riggleman) Miller and husband, John of Hyndman and Blaine Riggleman of Manchester, NH; four grandchildren, John IV “Johnny”, Eli, Jesse, and Jordyn Miller, all of Hyndman; one child of the heart, Linda Miller of Hyndman; five sisters, Arlene Stump, Diana Gay Ketterman, Charlotte Ketterman and husband, Roy, all of Moorefield, WV; Doris Jean Stanley and Joann Varner of North Carolina; two brothers, Stanley Armentrout and wife, Rose of Moorefield and Thomas Armentrout and wife, Bonnie of Old Fields.

Friends will be received at the Elmore Funeral Home, 217 Winchester Avenue, Moorefield, WV 26836, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. time of service. Burial will follow at a later date in the Comps Cemetery, Hyndman, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Comps Church in Hyndman or to the family to help cover expenses.
