Proudly Serving the South Branch Valley Since 1969

Naomi Grace Bush

Naomi Grace Bush, age 80, of Rig, WV went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Petersburg, WV. Born on June 30, 1939 in Brandywine, WV, she was the daughter of the late Emory Marvin Evans and Mernie Grace Evans. Gracie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Temple in Rig, WV. Her faith was extremely important to her, and in her own words, “I try to be thankful that nothing can separate us from the love of God.”

Gracie graduated as valedictorian of her class at Moorefield High School in 1957. She went on to graduate from Alderson Broaddus School of Nursing and spent the next 54 years of her life caring for others as a nurse. She had many treasured friends and made lasting memories from her times at George Washington Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Grant Memorial Hospital (Director of Nursing), and the Potomac Highlands Guild. Gracie was especially compassionate—she loved everyone and treated them like family. She enjoyed good food, reading, collecting music boxes, and had a special place in her heart for animals.

She is survived by her son, William “Skip” Bush (Donna) of Rig, WV; one sister and best friend, Carole Dolan of Rig, WV; one granddaughter, Brittany Carr (Anthony), of Buena Vista, VA; two grandsons, Nathan Bush of Maysville, WV and Sean Sicher of Rig, WV; four great-grandchildren; two nephews, Joseph and Anthony Dolan, both of Rig, WV; and many great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins that she loved very much.

A private graveside will take place for the family with Pastor Steve Snyder officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ASPCA or the Humane Society in Gracie’s name.

Arrangements are under the direction of Elmore Funeral Home, Moorefield, WV.
