Ramona Louise "Monie" (Simmons) Boswell

Ramona “Monie” Louise Simmons Boswell, 91, passed away peacefully on February 18, with her family by her side.

She was born on October 24, 1929, in Kessel, WV, the daughter of Sanford and Elsie Simmons. Monie graduated from Moorefield High School in 1947, and in 1949 married Curtis Thomas Boswell who preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

She was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Axillary and the Pink Ribbon Ladies; being a 47-year breast cancer survivor.

Monie worked as a telephone operator for Central Telephone Company; and then for Hawse’s Shop and Save formerly Hawse’s Food Land for many years.

Monie was loved by many because of her kind and generous nature. Her family was the most important part of her life. Her grandchildren loved visiting her, and she was always showering them with love and attention.

Monie is survived by one sister: Kay Hite of Cumberland, MD; one brother: Lloyd Simmons (Pat) of Summerville, SC. In addition, she is survived by her three children: Mitch Boswell (Cherie) of Martinsburg, WV; Doug Boswell (Robin) of Moorefield, WV; and Ron See (Barbara) of Moorefield, WV. Seven grandchildren: Lori Boswell of Winchester, VA, Lindsey Udasco (Roberto) of Ashburn, VA; Tyler Boswell (Alicia) of Martinsburg, WV; Andrew Boswell (Nicole) of Ashburn, VA; Adam Boswell of Ashburn, VA, Scott See (Janette) of Martinsburg, WV, Rhonda Spielman (Steve) of Berkley Springs, WV; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-child, along with numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Millie Shockey, Melissa Judy, Donna Fisher and Grant Memorial Hospice for their care and love.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Grant Memorial Hospice (100 Hospital Dr., Suite 2, Petersburg, WV 26847) or Moorefield Presbyterian Church (109 S. Main St., Moorefield, WV 26836).

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family. And a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
