Richard Douglas "Dicky" Spaid

 

Richard Douglas “Dicky” Spaid, age 72, formerly of Gore, VA, passed away Monday morning, October 17, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loved ones. Born July 13, 1950, in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late Charles Spaid and Ila Spaid.

Dicky took great pride in his work and had a work ethic like no other. He spent many years working in “The Cove” in Gore, VA. Dicky was very proud of his accomplishments while working there and spoke of them often. Dicky retired after many years from Glaze Components and spent his last years in Moorefield, WV. He was always willing to lend a helping hand in maintaining Fitzwater Farm and Rentals. Dicky had a love for his family and animals, especially dogs, horses, rabbits, and chickens. He will be remembered for his heart of gold and his giving mentality. Dicky would always give to others without hesitation and always had a story for those who would listen.

Surviving are his significant other of more than 30 years, Amy Lynn Cosner; eight children, Addison Cosner, Chasity Taylor, Paul Bennett, Alana Cosner, Justyn Cosner, Dylan Cosner, Kambree Cosner, and Aaron Spaid; two grandchildren, Hannah Taylor and Brooke Taylor; nine brothers and sisters, Charles Spaid, Jeane Clark, Larry Spaid, Ernie Spaid, Lainia Triplett, Sammy Spaid, Tommy Spaid, Terry Spaid, and Carole Holiday.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield with Pastor Dan Sterns officiating. Burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elmore Funeral Home, 217 Winchester Avenue, Moorefield, WV 26836 to help defray the cost of the funeral.
