Vernon Cullers Jr.

            Vernon Cullers Jr., age 75 of Old Fields, WV, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. Born on October 6, 1944 in Bass, WV, he was the son of the late Brady Vernon Cullers and Ethel Ratliff Cullers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Miley Cullers in August of 2004; two sisters; and two brothers.

            Mr. Cullers is survived by two sons, Shanon Cullers (Beth) and Mark Cullers, both of Moorefield, WV; one sister, Lillian Shoemaker of Moorefield, WV; one brother, Woodrow “Woody” Cullers of Arthur, WV; one half-brother, Roy Ratliff of Old Fields, WV; two grandchildren; and his dog, Tiki.

            Vernon was a corrections officer for the Virginia Dept. of Corrections and served his country with the US Army.

            Due to public health concerns, there will be no public visitation. A private graveside service will be held at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV on Saturday, March 21, 2020 where military graveside honors will be accorded.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hardy County Committee on Aging, 409 Spring Ave., Moorefield, WV  26836 and/or the American Legion, Post 64, 225 N. Main St., Moorefield, WV  26836.
