Winnie Juanita Vance

Winnie Juanita Vance, age 72, of Moorefield, WV, passed away on Sunday,
September 3, 2017 at the Grant County Rehabilitation & Care Center in
Petersburg, WV. Born May 6, 1945 in Petersburg, WV, she was the daughter of
the late Charles Coker Vance and Ada Winiferd Crites Vance.

      Winnie was a retired school teacher, having taught in both Hardy and Mineral
County. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Shepherd
University and her Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. She was a
member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Fisher, WV. In addition, she
was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW),
Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the Friends of the Library.

      She is survived by her son, Weyland “Duke” Vance of Keyser, WV; one sister,
Maudie D. Engle of Cypress, TX; two brothers, Don C. Vance of Colonial Heights,
VA and Doug A. Vance of Moorefield, WV; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017
at Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV. A funeral service will be held at 11:00
a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Anderson
officiating. Burial will follow at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to the Hardy County Public Library.
